Meet the Pastor
Rev. Patrick W. Bland is a native of Buckingham County, VA. He is the son of Carol Bland Johnson and grandson of the late Dea. Samuel and Deaconess Lucy Bland. Rev. Bland was fortunate to be covered spiritually by his mother and grandparents from a child up. Rev. Bland’s brother Marcellus, mirrored the attitude of their mother and grandparents and because of that, Rev. Bland still looks to his brother for mentorship.
Rev. Bland was blessed by God to find and marry the incomparable Rev. Darlene Celeste (Mahan) Bland. He suggests that God custom-made Rev. D. Bland just for him. God looked beyond his faults and gave him just who he needed. This partnership of marriage, life and ministry afforded Rev. Bland an opportunity to become a father to two incredibly beautiful children, Tyler and Harmony. It is no secret, that family is extremely important to him.
Rev. Bland entered the gospel ministry at the age of 19. He was licensed and ordained by the Third Liberty Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roderick Galloway. There, he served as Minister of Music and Youth Minister. He was seasoned in youth ministry by his mother and mentored by his pastor as well as other ministers as to the vocation and practice of ministry.
Rev. Bland was educated in the Buckingham County Public School System where he received his academic diploma. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Union University. Rev. Bland also obtained a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Rev.
